In their simplest form animated movies are an enornmous number of drawings shown in quick succession in much the same manner as a flipbook. The first step in creating an animated movie is drawing the characters. This is accomplished by a team of artists and animators drawing hundreds of thousands of images. Every character's emotion, movement, and background scene must be drawn individually. Often a team of animators is assigned a particular character.
